Introduction

My name is Joshua Levy and I am a grade 9 student at Mulgrave School, going into grade 10 next September. I’ve created this blog to document my progress within the planning 10 course. My family consists of myself, my dad, mom and01ee0237582d097f54a17c96e76f3f7d9a46e37842 my twin sister. I live in a very multicultural family as I have a caucasian dad who is Jewish, and a Filipino mom who is Christian. I find that living in a multicultural family is very interesting at times as we celebrate a lot of different holidays. My hobbies include a variety of sports such as tennis, basketball and golf; musical instruments like the saxophone; public speaking, and debate. I do most of these activities on a daily basis and find that they help to relieve the stress of everyday life. In school I am a very balanced person. I am on several sports teams at school including the cross country running team, basketball A teamgolf swing, and tennis team. Since I was a little kid I’ve always been active in different sports as I come from a very athletic family. I’m also involved with a lot of service clubs such as MPS (Mulgrave Public Square) and I volunteer for the ball crew at the Odlum Brown Tennis Open almost every summer. I’m also a part of the Jazz Band where I play the tenor saxophone (except for this year where I took a small break). I started off by playing the alto saxophone when I was in grade 5, but then decided I wanted to play the tenor in grade 6. This year I came in 1st place for my school’s persuasive speech competition, and I attended BC’s regional debate where I placed within the top 25. Some of my strengths include athletics, public speaking, critical thinking and teamwork. Most people describe me as caring, athletic and smart. At school, the subjects I enjoy are science, P.E., english and most of all design technology. In design technology, we research, design, build and then reflect on a project of our choice. I liked the course so much that when it ended, IMG_0371I started a project on my own, building a solar panel. Throughout the summer I’m going to be working on the project and I hope to have everything researched and designed by the end of summer so I can start working on it by the school year. The solar panel also incorporates some of my other favourite classes like science, and I think that it’s cool how a lot of the courses overlap. Some things that people may not know about me is that I really enjoy zip-lining, and I used to have a business. In grade 7 I started a company called Jollama with my friends Kole and Jamie. We sold baked goods and ended up making a profit of over Screen Shot 2015-07-09 at 9.15.05 PM$1000 by the end of the school year. I hope you enjoy looking through my planning 10 blog and enjoy what I have come up with as much as I do.
